Band Blog

We have had a lot of disruptions to rehearsals this term, but we now have just 2 rehearsals left before our tour to the primary schools next Thursday; and 3 rehearsals before our performance on Avalon Market day a week on Sunday. From what I have been hearing at rehearsals we have some ground to make up before we can be reasonably confident of a good showing at these performances, so we need all our players to commit to the next 3 rehearsals; and if you are not on top of your contributions to our repertoire please put in some practice to nail the bits you are unsure of.

Transport to Primary Schools next Thursday

Thank-you to all those parents who have volunteered to drive our players up the hill to Bilgola from Avalon around 12.50 pm. We should now have enough cars to transport everyone without doubling back. Hope you can join us for our performances – Avalon at 11.45 am and Bilgola around 1.30 pm. It’s important for us to wow the primary schools kids into joining Band next year!

Band AGM next Monday  School Hall 7.00 pm. We desperately need new parents to put up their hands to help run Band in 2018. Otherwise it may just not happen, and that would be a tragedy.

Band Tour

Final arrangements are now being made and the full itinerary will be released soon. At time of writing some 17 students are not fully paid up for Tour so please attend to this immediately. Adults who will be looking after your teenagers will be John Stone; his sister Marguerite, who is a high school music teacher; Josh; myself; Jonathan Cramer; Rowena Beckenham; Daniela Newlyn, and Michelle Ring. We will be releasing contact details for everyone in case you need to contact us; and we will be asking you to confirm your contact details in case we need to contact you.

This Sunday Nov 12

Layne Visser’s Village Big Band will be playing at Dunbar Park 2.30 pm as part of the celebrations for Veterans’ Day. Lachie on sax and Euan on bass trombone will be joining the line-up. If you want to listen to some awesome big band music on a relaxing Sunday afternoon then join us for this performance.
